Reefkeeper

A small edit of pieces inspired by the dying-and-living reefs off the south coast.

“Coral grows back if you let it rest — and so do the women who wear this collection.”

The Reefkeeper edit draws its forms from the living reefs off Barbados's south coast: branching coral, encrusted boulders, the geometry of sea fans. Imani has been diving these reefs since she was eight years old, and the shapes she brings back to the bench are precise observations rather than stylised references.

Each piece in the collection is cast directly from a wax model built over a sketch made underwater on a slate. The process is slow and the yields are low. A Reefkeeper piece takes longer to make than anything else in the atelier — which is one of the reasons the runs are limited to twelve.
